We want followers. The more followers, the more popular, powerful, desirable, whatever-able we are and we have the numbers to back it up. We can prove our popularity. We have followers. Are we all secretly wanting to be the new Messiah? Take it literally, or use it as a metaphor. It works for both: the social networking guru, the rock god, the king of beers...
